The Butterfly Garden

Book number 6 in the Journey of 100 books in a year. This book, written by Dot Hutchison, was probably one of the most beautifully haunting books I’ve ever read. In short, this is a book that stems far beyond what it’s actual words are. It’s a story of captivity, loss of identity, conformity, and the beauty of life and death. Without giving too much away, this is about a man ,”The Gardner”, who “collects” young girls and keeps them in the Garden. He loves them in his own sadistic way and leads a complicated double life while his “butterflies” live hidden from the rest of the world.

Definitely a must read if you’re looking for a page-turning thriller. Warning: some of the content is extremely disturbing so read at your own risk. Enjoy!
